Casalferro was first produced in 1993 when Francesco Ricasoli became President of the company. A pure Merlot produced only during the best years, Casalferro is obtained from the vineyard of the same name which contributes to the exclusive personality of this great Chianti merlot.

Pure ruby-red color. The nose is fruity with cherry and strawberry notes. Some tertiary hints of leather. On the palate, ripened red fruits, succulent, intriguing and long-lasting. Tannins are delicate and well integrated. The aftertaste expresses a lively freshness with notes of dark red fruits, wet ground and wood.

Named after an ancient heliotherapy centre (Colonia), the Colonia vineyard was the result of a difficult replanting project begun in 1966 and completed only 1993. The very rocky soil of this vineyard is full of iron and magnesium which give it a typical red colour.

A very deep red Merlot. Complex aromas of dark fruits, chocolate, spice and a hint of violets. Silky on the palate thanks to fine tannins, with subtle black olive flavours and a smooth, lingering finish.
