The immediate potpourri of flowers on the nose is gracefully entwined with subtle minerality. The palate begins precise and playful, showing sandalwood and fine spice notes. A surprising breadth that the tight focus doesn't immediately reveal.

Balanced and complete: possessing lovely charm, harmony and a persistent finale. Irresistible in its youth but further complexities will no doubt emerge.

James Suckling (JS) : 96 Points (2019)
A rich and rather decadent nose of ripe strawberry, smoke and grilled meat follows through to a full body with layers of ripe tannins and a juicy, succulent finish. Just a hint of grilled orange to the bacon. Drink now or hold.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 94 Points (2019)
Generous and juicy wild strawberry, cranberry and spiced cherry flavors start off flashy and mouthwatering, but then settle into a harmonious spicy mix of tobacco, clove and oolong tea, with details of chicory and forrest floor that linger on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2034.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 90 Points (2019)
There's a sense of ease to this ripe yet elegant Pinot. It has a fluidity as it flows along the palate, offering cherry, raspberry and floral aromas. A portion of whole cluster fruit has created additional layers of woody herbs and spice. There's almost 30% new oak, but the fruit, sourced from four vineyards, absorbs it easily. The tannins coat the mouth, providing a pleasing clasp with their fine, chalky veil. While this might be Felton Road's “entry-level” Pinot Noir, there's plenty of seriousness here. Drinking window: 2021 - 2027

Bob Campbell MW (BC) : 95 Points (2018)
Delicately-scented Pinot Noir with appealing violet, red rose, dark cherry, anise and subtle smoky oak flavours. A supple wine with an ethereal, seamless texture. This entry-level Pinot Noir sets the bar high for the more illustrious labels. (7/2019)

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 91 Points (2018)
This vintage of Felton Road's blend of fruit from all four of its vineyards still bears the estate's signature while being a little less cohesive than its single-site wines, like Block 3. It's softly spicy with high-toned red berry and plum fruit, green peppercorn and slight mushroomy notes. The palate is neatly structured, hugged by savory, if somewhat blocky tannins. A characterful and approachable drop now. (CP) (5/2020)

Decanter (DCT) : 92 Points (2017)
A scented and rather delicate expression sitting lightly in the mouth, but there's no mistaking the density of the mid-palate. There's a slight warmth on the medium-length finish, which offers black cherry and oak-derived Christmas spice. Overall this has lovely harmony and poise. Drinking Window 2019 - 2025 (RG) (9/2018)

Robert Parker (RP) : 92 Points (2016)
Unusually delicate red fruit notes mark the nose of the 2016 Pinot Noir. It's a mélange of strawberry, raspberry and cherry, with some herbal notes, cola and spice blended in. In the mouth, the wine is medium-bodied and supple, with a long, silky finish. (JC) (2/2018)

Burghound (BH) : 90 Points (2014)
I like the exuberant freshness of the ever-so-mildly herbal tea inflected aromas of red currant, cherry and floral scents. There is excellent cut and punch to the utterly delicious middle weight flavors that possess fine detail on the well-balanced and lingering finish. This will need a few years to develop more depth but the balance is such that I have confidence it will happen with some patience.

A deep purple-ruby color. Nice complexity of aromas with red fruits, blackberry liqueur, touches of incense, and notes of mint and cedar sap.
