Wine Spectator (WS) : 96 Points (2019)
Aromatic and expressive, with notes of tarragon, sage and white pepper mingling with fresh, juicy flavors of raspberry, cherry and pomegranate. This is clearly defined and focused, with firm tannins providing wonderful structure for the long, complex finish, where a note of dried lavender lingers.

Bob Campbell MW (BC) : 96 Points (2019)
Intense, vibrant pinot noir showing real depth and complexity with nuanced floral, dark cherry and raspberry flavours together with thyme, anise, spice and a suggestion of white pepper. A backbone of fruity acidity reveals energy and helps to promote a lingering finish. A serious wine from one of Central Otago's top producers. (10/2021)

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 95 Points (2019)
The 2019 Pinot Noir Burn Cottage Vineyard is like a taste of Christmas with its decadent baking spices combining with plum fruit and pure black cherry. There's lovely clarity of fruit and an intense core of youthful fruit flavors within its mid-weight frame. The remaining angles are those of an awkward teenager rather than a shape that will last into adulthood. The abundant, chewy tannins are resolved and will continue to mellow with bottle age (or if served with roast duck), and in combination with fine acidity, they provide the packaging for this unadulterated wine. The finish lingers long, offering baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, along black cherry and mocha. (1/2022)

James Suckling (JS) : 94 Points (2019)
Cherries, flowers and sweet spices on the nose. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity. Round and creamy with a caressing texture and a fruity edge. Long finish. Fresh and very fine. Elegant is the word. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Robert Parker (RP) : 94 Points (2018)
From the bio dynamically farmed "home" vineyard, the 2018 Burn Cottage Vineyard Pinot Noir features hints of thyme, mocha and cedar, all accenting kaleidoscopic fruit notes that range from plums to red raspberries and back. Medium-bodied, it's expansive on the palate without being weighty, silky and ripe while still being structured, with a long, richly textural finish. While drinkable now, it will certainly still be going strong a decade (and probably longer) from now.

Decanter (DCT) : 94 Points (2017)
If you thought Central Otago was all about bright, fruit-driven Pinot, then get this in your glass. This biodynamic vineyard overlooking Cromwell has produced a mellow, savoury and nuanced expression with the most beautifully handled tannins of the vintage - they are mouthcoating yet provide structure in combination with the fresh acidity.

Jancis Robinson (JR) : 17.5 Points (2016)
Light cherry. Much more open and aromatic than the 2012. Full of lively red fruit and those crushed herbs again. Smooth and compact on the palate, multiple very fine layers. Less open on the palate than on the nose. Needs time. 17.5/20 points. (JH) (1/2018)

Burghound (BH) : 91 Points (2013)
An attractively fresh and cool red and dark pinot fruit nose offers up hints of plum, tea and spice. The delicious, round and velvet-textured medium-bodied flavors possess solid volume before terminating in a dusty, sappy and well-balanced finale. This is already drinking well even though the flavors and finish are shaped by a moderately firm tannic spine. While this isn't super-complex I suspect that if this was aged another 3 to 5 years that more depth would develop. Worth trying.
