The Erdener Treppchen vineyard is so steep that, long ago, stone steps were built into the hillside to help workers reach the vines. The iron-infused, red slate soil produces wines that are muscular and complex, with an intense mineral finish.

The early harvested Kabinett is a precocious wine, with red fruit aromas and an elegant yet muscular structure

Piquant and crunchy on the palate, this is an intense, crisp and sour yet juicy Kabinett with ripe fruit and challenging, persistently salty acidity and a still-palatable sweetness. Characterised by its steep, red slate slope, Erdener Treppchen can produce wines of impressive depth and minerality. This 2018 Kabinett has a fresh aroma of crisp green apple, followed on the fairly soft palate by more appley fruit and a touch of sweetness. There is some steely minerality on the finish which freshens things up. A lovely, plump, juicy wine for drinking over the next 10 years. Drinking Window 2019 - 2030
