A myriad of mulberry, wild thyme and enticing savoury undertones are interwoven with layers of ripe summer berries. The palate displays both generosity and restraint, with plump and supple tannins that are supported by an amalgam of summer ripened plums, dark cherry and a freshness reminiscent of ripe red fruits. The finish is long, the wine showing lovely fruit purity and definition.

James Suckling (JS) : 95 Points (2021)
Lots of boysenberry and strawberry aromas and flavors with an underlying smoky and mineral edge. It’s full and layered with beautiful tannins and a long and flavorful finish. A little tight at the end. Gorgeous and curated.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 96 Points (2020)
Aromatic, succulent, fresh and distinctive, with fleshy black cherry, blueberry and marionberry flavors at the core—but that's just the beginning, as details of fresh clove cigarette, white truffle, chai, dried lavender and a whiff of sandalwood emerge on a delicate, juicy frame, with the tannins lingering in the background.

Robert Parker (RP) : 92 Points (2018)
A blend of fruit from Lowburn and Bannock burn, the 2018 Moonlight Race Pinot Noir is a round, supple and harmonious effort that outperforms its "second wine" status. Hints of brown sugar and cedar accent damson plums and black cherries, while intricate herbal nuances bring added complexity. Medium to full-bodied, it's ready to drink now, yet it shows the concentration and length to suggest it will drink well for up to a decade.

Bob Campbell MW (BC) : 96 Points (2015)
Moonlight Race is a blend of grapes from Burn Cottage Vineyard (35% ), Northburn Vineyard (35% ) and (30%) Mark ll Vineyard, with a mix of clones in each. 22.5% whole cluster. Similar in style to the regular Burn Cottage label but with more sweet fruit and a sappy influence adding complexity to berry, oak and floral flavours. A subtle and beguiling wine with finely pitched structure that allows access now while assuring a promising future.
