Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Pale straw with a green tinge.
Nose: A subdued yet complex perfume of lemon blossom, lime and ginger, with delicate hints of brioche and pine needles. Savoury overtones of bread crust, almond and spicy oak bring depth to the intriguing fragrance.
Palate: The soft creamy texture, polished acidity and light, dry tannin finish combine to create an incredible body and mouthfeel. Lovely citrus flavours mingle with hints of crushed dry vine leaf and kaffir lime. Not overtly fruity in this cool vintage, the wine is delicate and textured, with pure balance.

Vasse’s middle-tier wines once again shine in terms of value for money. Classic Margaret River, this is a fruit-forward Chard that leads with notes of peach cobbler and melon rind. It’s underpinned by subtle but present toast and lees notes like cream, brioche, flint and oyster shell. A zing of acidity first hits the mouth. It’s rounded by a creamy texture. While there is enough structure, length and pose for this to cellar.

James Suckling (JS) : 93 Points (2021)
Fresh and creamy with aromas of white grapefruit, thyme, lemons, sourdough and hazelnuts. Medium-bodied with beautiful depth of ripe citrus and stone fruit and a lengthy, creamy finish. Drink now or hold.

Robert Parker (RP) : 92 Points (2021)
The 2021 Chardonnay is mealy, svelte and fine, polished, seamless, lovely and classy. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 94 Points (2020)
Impressive for its vitality and intensity, offering lemon curd, salted butterscotch and dried pineapple flavors, with Fuji apple and fresh ginger accents. The flavors are amplified and harmonious on the long, persistent finish. Drink now

Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 92 Points (2019)
Virginia Willcock takes her prime chardonnay parcels on two separate paths: Mostly Gingin clone, two thirds of this wine is whole-cluster pressed and sent to barrels as unclarified juice. The other portion, harvested to handle some skin contact, gets direct-pressed and goes into barrels with most of its solids. Both lots ferment without added yeasts and age in their barrels (39 percent new) for nine months. Combined, they create a long, fresh, coastal chardonnay with depth. The skin phenolics add richness while also tightening the structure: The wine retains youthful lightness and an ethereal energy.

Decanter (DCT) : 90 Points (2018)
Rich and plush, with tropical fruit and nutty oak aromatics, yellow apple, melon and spiced nutmeg on the palate.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 93 Points (2017)
Translucent yellow. Meyer lemon, pear nectar, jasmine, vanilla and a hint of buttered toast on the intensely perfumed, mineral-accented nose. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering sappy citrus and orchard fruit, floral, ginger and sweet butter flavors and a suggestion of salty minerality. Shows impressive energy and mineral bite on the chewy, penetrating finish, which features a repeating floral note.

James Halliday (JH) : 96 Points (2015)
From Vasse Felix's premier vineyards focused on Wilyabrup, fermented and matured in French oak (42% new) for 9 months. The bouquet is still developing, but the palate guarantees the medium to long-term future of a chardonnay with exceptional length and intensity, pear, white peach and grapefruit combining to make light work of the oak. Restrained like a lion on a leash. (9/2016)

Vasse Felix, Margaret River's founding wine estate, was established by Dr Thomas Brendan Cullity in 1967. Among his first plantings were Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec vines, from which he produced the estate’s first red wine. The Tom Cullity descends from these original vines and represents the pinnacle of Vasse Felix.

A Chardonnay with much finesse that reflects the conditions of the vintage and the character of a unique vineyard site. The 2014 is true to style, typified by good concentration of flavour which comes as a result of the season's lower yields.
