Region and Vineyards
This Zinfandel is crafted from vineyards in Mokelumne River AVA, a sub-region of Lodi AVA, where some of the oldest Zinfandel vines in the United States still thrive.
The vineyards, Bruella Vineyard and Fathom Ranch, are planted on well-draining sandy loam soils, which promote excellent ripening while preserving freshness. The Mediterranean climate, with warm days and cool nights, helps to maintain balance in the grapes. These old vines produce naturally low yields, resulting in wines with intense concentration and complexity. Sustainable viticulture is practiced, following Lodi Rules for Sustainable Farming, ensuring environmental responsibility and long-term vineyard health.
Winemaking
The hand-harvested grapes undergo a carefully controlled fermentation to achieve a balance between structure and fruit expression.
Aging lasts 13 months, with 60% of the wine spending time in oak barrels to enhance texture and complexity. This slow maturation process refines the tannins while developing notes of spice and toast, complementing the wine’s rich fruit profile.
