Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 95 Points (2017)
This wine comes from a vineyard in Watervale, planted at an elevation of 1,500 feet in red loam over limestone. Jeffrey Grosset finds the site is less stressful for riesling’s drought-sensitive roots than his vineyard at Polish Hill. This wine’s fierce, linear structure seems to speak of limestone while its flavors have a Clare Valley accent of lime blossoms and orange peel—delicate and filigreed, lean and rocky. With a day of air, the texture develops creamy richness and the dense flavors show their depths more fully. If you want to get the most out of this wine, cellar it for a decade, and store away enough bottles to enjoy through its second decade.

Robert Parker (RP) : 92 Points (2017)
Apple blossoms, crushed stone and citrus pith scents combine on the nose of Grosset's 2017 Springvale Riesling. In the Australian tradition, it's dry and medium-bodied, with an exquisite sense of elegance that complements its floral aromas. Mouthwatering lime sherbet notes creep in on the lingering finish.

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 91 Points (2017)
This wine expresses bright yet dainty lime zest, floral and talc characters. The palate is fine and focused, with crisp, bright, citric acidity and a wet stone minerality. Watch this little beauty morph with time. Drink now–2033 at least.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 89 Points (2017)
Shows a laser beam focus to the lemon, pear and mineral flavors, set on a smooth and juicy frame, with plenty of persistence and accents of white pepper on the finish. Drink now. 2,200 cases made.

James Halliday (JH) : 96 Points (2016)
As good as any Grosset Springvale Riesling of the past decade, with beautifully balanced and very expressive lime juice fruit and crystalline acidity flowing through the gloriously long palate. Drink now or soonish if you value freshness, in 5-10 years if you value complexity.

James Suckling (JS) : 93 Points (2016)
A more elegant and finer-boned riesling that has plenty of lime and apple fruit and some brighter tropical nuances too. The palate starts on a crisp apple thread, then lime and hints of pastry. Screw cap.

Decanter (DCT) : 96 Points (2015)
The Watervale sub-region’s generous ‘soft rock’ red loam over limestone translates into a more expressive, fruit-driven style. While Polish Hill builds on the finish, Springvale 2015 has classic Watervale intensity and attack, with pure lime and lifted kaffir lime. Now that the vines’ roots have hit a vein of slate, Springvale is firmer, more mineral than most, with chalky dry extract going through. Very incisive, long and lip-smacking.

Jancis Robinson (JR) : 17.5 Points (2013)
Tasted Sept '14 - Lovely race and minerals and chew. So serious! Dry and convincing. Pretty Germanic actually...
