Region and Vineyards
The Sonoma Coast is renowned for producing world-class Chardonnays thanks to its cool-climate conditions and coastal influences. This vintage benefitted from a warm summer, with an early start to harvest. The growing season saw a significant heat event in early September, accelerating ripening, followed by cooler conditions that allowed for optimal fruit maturity. The Sonoma Coast offers complex soils and cool ocean breezes, contributing to a long growing season that is ideal for cultivating high-quality Chardonnay.
Winemaking
The Decoy Limited Chardonnay is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes sourced from some of the best vineyards in the Sonoma Coast region. The wine was aged for 8 months in a combination of stainless steel and French oak barrels, with 30% new oak adding a subtle oak influence. To maintain vibrant acidity and freshness, only 30% malolactic fermentation was used, ensuring a clean and bright finish.
