James Suckling (JS) : 99 Points (2018)
This is a superb edition of this revered, cabernet-based blend with such complete, seamless and elegant feel, yet there’s such depth of flavor, too. Aromas of fresh redcurrants, red and violet flowers, subtle spice, fresh earth, paper bark, fresh-picked thyme and sage, red berries and some cedary notes. The palate is stunning and has a brand of elegance with power that is found in only the greatest wines. Pristine mulberries, red plums, blueberries and red cherries sail through layers of fine tannin, into an unwaveringly long and vibrant finish. An exceptionally concentrated and convincing Diana Madeline release, this is one of their finest. A blend of 79% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot, 6% cabernet franc and 5% malbec. Delicious now, but his will bloom from 2028.

Decanter (DCT) : 98 Points (2018)
Authoritative, with blackcurrant and mulberry fruit nuanced by deep notes of tobacco, bitter chocolate, currant leaf, dried rose and cedar. With beautifully understated gravitas, the fine-textured graphite tannins and incisive acidity sustain a long, penetrating finish. Reflecting ideal harvest conditions, fruit for this ultra-composed Bordeaux blend was picked over one month on fruit and flower days, including a full-moon fruit day, then part-fermented in amphorae, before ageing in 80% biodynamic barrels (50% new).

Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 93 Points (2018)
Vanya Cullen named this wine for her mother, who planted the vines in 1971 on the family’s ranch along Caves Road. Grown on their own roots on gravelly granite soils and farmed under bio dynamics, those vines consistently produce one of the most beautiful reds in Margaret River. In 2018 the blend included cabernet sauvignon (79 percent), merlot, cabernet franc and malbec, which Cullen fermented in a selection of tanks, barrels and amphorae (she makes no additions other than sulfur). This vintage is delicate in weight but satisfying in flavor, a silken cabernet with air in the tannins allowing herbal notes of thyme and rosemary to show. Fresh, bright and honest, it will cozy up to a sauteed mix of wild mushrooms, with or without a steak. §

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 95 Points (2017)
Like all of Cullen's top reds, this Bordeaux-style blend—made from the winery's home block of biodynamically farmed fruit—is still a baby. Its youth is particularly pronounced in a cool vintage like 2017, but with time to open up, it hints at extraordinary things for the future. Whispers of dried rose petal, clove, wild currant, red cherry, seaweed and minerals are tucked into a bed of chocolaty, spicy oak, which will integrate with time. The luscious, high-toned fruit is held together by fine, nervy tannins. Put this far out of reach, and don't touch for at least another five years.

Robert Parker (RP) : 94 Points (2017)
The medium-bodied 2017 Diana Madeline is 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec. It spent 18 months in 40% new oak. Hints of violets and cocoa accent cassis and blueberry fruit on the nose, while raspberries emerge on the palate. The fine, silky texture continues onto the long finish, ending with some drying tannins. Give this a few years in the cellar and drink it over the next 15 years.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 90 Points (2017)
Rosemary, sage and bay leaf notes add a fresh green edge to the currant, plum and blueberry flavors, with spice accents and cigar box aromatics. The tannins are dense but polished, never getting in the way even as they firm up on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

James Halliday (JH) : 98 Points (2016)
93% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot, 1% each of malbec and petit verdot, matured for 14 months in French barriques (67% new). Elegance personified, no compromise likewise. Then rack up extraordinary attention to detail, and the Wilyabrup district, the greatest part of the Margaret River. Given these parameters, the fluid grace of this beautiful wine might seem almost inevitable. But, of course, it's not - it's the distillation of two generations. (6/2018)

Bob Campbell MW (BC) : 96 Points (2016)
Deep purple/red colour, with a lovely, elegant blueberry, violet aroma, the palate likewise refined and beautifully flavoured, a medium to full-body, elegance and harmony. The tannins are abundant and add great structure. Oak is nigh invisible. An impressive and cellarworthy wine. (Huon Hooke, The Real Review) (4/2018)
