Robert Parker (RP) : 93 Points (2022)
The 2022 Henry's Seven leads with a vibrant core of raspberry seed and bramble, five spice and blood plum skin. In the mouth, the fruit is supple and spicy and expounds a brilliant clarity of tannin. Ductile, whippy and delicious, it has raspberry leaf tea and rose petals to close. There are also notes of pink peppercorns, as per usual. This is a gorgeous wine.

James Suckling (JS) : 93 Points (2022)
A southern Rhone blend, infused with a dollop of viognier. Scents of purple pastille, raspberry bon-bon, rose water and eucalyptus, quintessentially Australian. The tannins, finely wrought. The oak, embedded nicely. This is a large-framed wine of impressive freshness, if not a slightly drying finish.

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 95 Points (2021)
From an excellent vintage, this 20th anniversary bottling of Henry’s Seven is a beauty and is comparatively affordable to boot. It offers layers of winter-warming aromas, from cherry and raspberry compote to savory, ground-pepper spice and toasted vanilla bean. The palate shows lovely mouth-watering freshness and red berry tang amidst chiseled, textural tannins. A finessed and complete wine for drinking now, this should also evolve beautifully over the next several years.Editors' Choice

Wine Spectator (WS) : 92 Points (2021)
Sleek, juicy and elegant, with maraschino cherry, raspberry and blood orange flavors at the core, plus touches of vanilla bean, dried lavender and sage notes on a firm frame. Features an appealing thread of acidity that weaves in and out

Decanter (DCT) : 92 Points (2021)
Deep grilled red citrus and orchard stone fruits, licorice spice and crushed dark gravel mineral notes. Rounded on the palate.

James Halliday (JH) : 92 Points (2015)
65% shiraz, 20% grenache, 10% mataro, 5% viognier - the numbers add up to a balanced blend; vibrant raspberry and black-berried fruits and wafts of florals, pepper and musk. Medium-weighted with crunchy acidity and shapely tannins make this immediately approachable.

Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 91 Points (2015)
This is the Henschke’s shiraz-grenache-mataro blend, with five percent viognier cofermented with the shiraz. The viognier might point up the tannins as well as the floral, anise scent of the blend. Those tannins have a green peppercorn spice that adds to the wine’s brightness, accenting the cool notes of strawberries. It’s gamey and rustic, a wine for grilled eggplant and lamb.

Bodegas Albamar Sesenta e Nove Arrobas Albariño 2020
Bodegas Albamar Sesenta e Nove Arrobas Albariño 2020

This wine comes from Rías Baixas, a renowned wine region in Galicia, Spain, known for its Albariño wines. The region's granite disintegrating sands and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean impart a distinctive terroir to the wine.

The Sesenta e Nove Arrobas is made from a selection of the best grapes from old vines, which produce fewer clusters but with excellent aromatic qualities. The grapes are vinified exclusively in steel tanks to enhance their rich aromatic qualities, and the wine is aged for 18 months in these tanks. The use of indigenous yeasts and a natural approach to winemaking further accentuates the grape's unique characteristics.

Tasting Notes:

  • Color: The wine has a bright and inviting appearance.
  • Aroma: Expect a vibrant bouquet, brimming with mineral notes along with traces of flowers and a variety of citrus fruits.
  • Palate: The taste is taut, fresh, and saline, with a crisp and invigorating acidity. It flows seamlessly to a finish marked by great freshness, making it both savory and vibrant.

Wine Pairing Ideas: This wine pairs beautifully with seafood, making it an excellent choice for dishes like grilled fish, shellfish, or a seafood paella. Its crispness and acidity also make it a great match for light salads and vegetarian dishes.
