Fermenté entièrement avec des levures naturelles, ce sauvignon blanc néo-zélandais présente un style différent, qui est à la fois complexe et riche en textures.

Une combinaison offrant des arômes de pâtisserie et d’herbes fraîches - le doux parfum meringue de citron et d'abricot semblent se fondre des notes de plantes comme l’estragon et un soupçon de fumé.

La bouche est succulente et emballés avec des fruits à noyau et de vanille, accompagnée d’une finition fraiche et longue.

James Suckling (JS) : 94 Points (2017)
A very complex and quite different style with plenty of reductive, flinty funk and toasted-lime zest, as well as clotted cream and passion fruit. The palate has a rich and fluid feel with plush, smoothly fleshy build and a sweeping, round finish. Drink now. Screw cap.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 92 Points (2017)
Succulent white peach, apricot and lemon curd flavors are wonderfully lush and complex, with whiffs of beeswax, powdered ginger and lemongrass that linger on a juicy frame. Drink now.

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 90 Points (2017)
The cooler vintage can be felt on the 2017 version of former Cloudy Bay winemaker Kevin Judd’s Wild Sauvignon. It starts reductively, with wax, onion and salty notes but opens with air to something more buttery, like a Chardonnay, with citrus, stone fruit and green herbal aromas at the rear. The textural work on the palate is obvious, and while it’s still full bodied, this vintage is a more focused and refreshingly restrained expression than we’ve seen in the past. 

Decanter (DCT) : 95 Points (2016)
Another Sauvignon in the tasting to have a reduced nose of struck match and a creamy palate, this fills out with tangerine, vanilla and spice. It's balanced by appley acidity and good intensity. It's a complete juxtaposition to Joel Delaunay's Touraine, which admittedly made it a bit easier to identify it as a Marlborough Sauvignon.

Robert Parker (RP) : 91 Points (2016)
Kevin Judd's 2016 Wild Sauvignon features toasty accents to it layers of ripe nectarine and pineapple. It's medium-bodied, reasonably rich and textured on the palate, then it weakens a bit on the finish. Stronger vintages can age up to a decade or more, but I'd suggest drinking this by 2023.

Bob Campbell MW (BC) : 95 Points (2015)
Pure, flinty wine in a bone-dry style with citrus and subtle stone fruit flavours. Nice purity with bright acidity helping drive a lengthy finish. Good weight and a suede-like texture. Impressive. Tasted in a vertical back to 2009.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 91 Points (2015)
The 2015 Wild Sauvignon has an intense bouquet with gooseberry, Conference pear, smoke and light fish oil aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity. It is not as powerful as the aromatics suggest, though there is a lovely tang of spice lingering on the bell pepper finish. Excellent. (NM) (11/2018)

Jancis Robinson (JR) : 17.5 Points (2013)
Tasted Feb 2016 - Lovely light note of struck match but it doesn't obscure the rich depth of the fruit. Greengage more than grassy, with a long tangy finish and great presence without excess fat. Spicy aftertaste. (JH)
