Robert Parker (RP) : 92 Points (2016)
Struck flint and hints of sweet corn and toasted grain accent white peaches and ripe pineapple on the nose of the 2016 Chardonnay. It's medium to full-bodied but comes across as fresh and lively, with a crisp, mouthwatering finish.

Bob Campbell MW (BC) : 95 Points (2015)
Quite a rich, full-flavoured and complex chardonnay with grapefruit, white peach, toasted nut, ginger and brioche flavours. It's a weighty, textural wine with power and potential. (5/2018)

James Suckling (JS) : 94 Points (2015)
Very rich, complex and layered in all respects, this is still super fresh with a little bottle age to show. The aromas of fresh and grilled yellow peaches sit attractively amid toasted-grain and hazelnut notes. The rich and complex palate holds long and smooth. Drink now. Screw cap.

Decanter (DCT) : 93 Points (2015)
From two Chardonnay clones: 'Mendoza', which has great concentration, low yields but very high acidity, and 'Clone 95', which brings balance. This wine is fermented with wild yeasts in French oak barriques, 20% new, with a high proportion of solids. It underwent full malo to counteract the high acidity, giving a lovely creaminess to the palate. It's packed full of flavour, with intense bacon fat, spice and subtle tropical fruit. It sounds big on paper, but it's an elegant style that should age well. Drinking Window 2019 - 2030 (JB) (1/2019)

Wine Spectator (WS) : 92 Points (2015)
Creamy lemon meringue, yellow apple and pear notes are pure, stylish and supple, with delicate accents of spice and toast. Strikes the right balance between intense flavors and an elegant frame

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 90 Points (2015)
Like the previous vintage, this is a full-bodied Chard charging out of the gate with toasted nut and smoke aromas, threaded through with soft pineapple and stone fruit and vanillin oak. The palate is more restrained while still being rich. It's creamy in texture, with yet more nutty, smoky, ripe fruit and wood spice flavors balanced by crunchy acidity. Drink now–2027.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 94 Points (2014)
The 2014 Chardonnay has a well-defined bouquet with scents of passion fruit, beeswax, orange rind and a hint of fresh mushroom. I love the definition and focus here. The poised, refreshing palate is very well balanced, with a fine bead of acidity and an assiduous dash of spice towards the finish. Simply put, this is one of the best recently released Chardonnays that I have tasted from New Zealand.

Jancis Robinson (JR) : 17.5 Points (2013)
Tasted Feb 2016 - Two-thirds low-yielding Mendoza clone, the rest clone 95. Fruit was sourced from the lower reaches of the Brancott Valley and Fairhall, grown in gravelly, clay-loam soils, the remainder coming from Rapaura, grown in young alluvial soils containing high proportions of New Zealand’s ubiquitous greywacke river stones. Vineyards hand-picked separately at high ripeness levels and whole-bunch pressed using very low maceration press cycles. The resulting juice was settled and racked to French oak barriques (20% new, medium toast). Half the wine was left on full solids. Spontaneous, warm and slow indigenous-yeast fermentation, full malo. 15 months in oak. TA 7 g/l, pH 3.39. Smoky and toasty on the nose but really tight and crisp on the palate - impressive freshness with such ripe fruit, deep and long. (JH)

Le Al Poggio a une couleur jaune et des arômes frais d'ananas, de pommes et de poires, avec une petite pointe boisée. Bouche pure et moyennement structurée. Belle complexité et belle finale fraîche.
