Light golden with a subtle, elegant nose of summer flowers, acacia blossom and hints of honeysuckle.

The wine is lightly spiced, with the judicious oak ageing bringing notes of vanilla and cinnamon.

It shows lovely buttery, honeyed and floral characters, all lifted on the finish by a lively freshness that is characteristic of this area of Italy.

This is in large part due to geographical situation, with estate vineyards occupying some of the finest sites of the Isonzo river valley, on well-draining alluvial soils over calcareous rock, benefiting from the sunny but cool conditions where the continental easterly 'bora' wind tempers the warmth coming up from the Adriatic. The 2019 Friuli Isonzo Chardonnay Vie di Romans is citrusy and tart, but the wine also has a soft side with orchard fruit, Golden Delicious apple, quince, crusty pie and toasted almond. This is a subtle, medium-bodied white with a long, silky finish. It expresses the elegance of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
