Robert Parker (RP) : 93 Points (2022)
This is the benchmark for (tank fermented, pure) Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc. The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc has sweet green pea, green apple skins, juniper, rosemary, a hint of nashi pear and layers of jasmine tea and spice. This is, as usual, very fine and spicy, with purity and textural complexity side by side. Pear skin. Pretty.

James Halliday (JH) : 96 Points (2021)
Hand-picked fruit, cool fermentation in stainless steel, maturation on lees and early bottling. A model of consistency over 32 vintages, Shaw + Smith Sauvignon Blanc continues to lead the way in 2021 with a combination of fruit intensity and a seeming lightness of being. It's told in 2 parts; the 1st is exuberant tropicals, citrus and herbal interplay, but it quickly moves into a state of serious intensity, filigree acidity and mealy texture. That lasting impression saturates the tastebuds and stays with you.

James Suckling (JS) : 94 Points (2021)
A very strong vintage for this popular Adelaide Hills sauvignon, it sits in a deliciously ripe yet fresh zone and is bathed in peach, nectarine, green-mango and passion-fruit aromas and flavors. Delivered in straight-up, drinkable mode on release. Screw cap.

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 93 Points (2021)
This is a particularly delicious bottling from one of the Adelaide Hills region’s most well-known names. Bright peach and citrus fruit bounce from the glass, with more delicate floral notes just behind. There’s almost none of the green veg pungency found in many New World Sauvignons. The palate offers equally vibrant fruit flavors. It glides along a creamy texture, finishing long and refreshing. Editors' Choice

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 91 Points (2021)
Pale silver-straw. Bright and sharply focused on the nose, displaying intense citrus zest, green apple and succulent herb qualities and a hint of green tea. Taut and sharply focused on the palate, offering lime pith, pear skin and fennel flavors and an exotic touch of lemongrass. Closes long and nervy, with repeating citrus fruit character and a touch of bitter quince.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 90 Points (2021)
Pear drop, peach and pineapple flavors are mouthwatering, intense and vividly in focus in this white, with lemongrass accents lining the finish.

Decanter (DCT) : 92 Points (2017)
From high elevation vineyards, where yields are kept down and the grapes are hand-picked. This features crisply-scented lemon and bell pepper aromas with a hint of apricot. It's really well balanced in the mouth, the succulent but saline citrus fruit backed up by richer hints of stone fruit and tangerine, alongside a layer of wafting herbs. Very elegant.

Jancis Robinson (JR) : 16.5 Points (2017)
Lightly grassy and green-fruited on the nose but definitely not pungent. More grapefruit than passion fruit and without the sweaty note of excessive thiols that you get on some NZ SBs. Bone dry, fresh and with a fine grip that balances the green-fruited freshness and shows how well the lees effect supports the fruit. A Chardonnay with much finesse that reflects the conditions of the vintage and the character of a unique vineyard site. The 2014 is true to style, typified by good concentration of flavour which comes as a result of the season's lower yields.
