Cerasuolo di Vittoria is born in the beautiful countryside of Dorilli, between the sea and the Iblei Mountains. The name of the only D.O.C.G. in Sicily is derived from "cerasa", cherry in Sicilian dialect.

Delicious crushed raspberry and bitter lemon follow through to a medium body, juicy fruit and a tangy finish. Drink or hold.

Decanter (DCT) : 91 Points (2017)

No oak to compete with the Nero d’Avola and Frappato fruit: raspberry, strawberry and red plum notes burst forth, rosehip and fennel add nuance. Light on its feet, soft tannin, joyfully mouthfilling.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 90 Points (2017)

This medium-bodied red is balanced and fresh, with light, taut tannins and a well-knit mix of wild strawberry and raspberry, dried thyme, singed orange peel and spicy mineral flavors. Drink now through 2023.

The 2016 Cerasuolo di Vittoria is lean in texture and bright in aromas. The historic blend is 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato. Wild strawberry aromas rise to the top, followed by bitter almond and rose petal. However, if I were to settle on one word (okay, two words) to describe the bouquet, they would be: wild cherry.

Dec 2016 By Ian D'Agata - Good full ruby-red. Perfumed aromas of raspberry, cherry cola and flowers, along with a spicy nuance. Fresh and fruity on entry, then smooth but slightly tighter in the midpalate, offering bright strawberry and violet pastille flavors. Finishes very long with dusty tannins and lingering salinity. Even more delicate and fragrant than usual this year. A blend of 60 percent Nero d’Avola and 40 percent Frappato that sees no oak. -- Ian D'Agata

Tasting Note: Vibrant Sicilian white wine from volcanic soil, rounded, fruity and perfumed with yellow plums, white stone fruit and herbs.

Food Matching: A white wine for all seasons. Good as an aperitif, but excellent with starters based on fish and pasta.

Vinification: The grapes are picked into crates and are at once refrigerated at 8°C. After light crushing and destemming they are soft pressed. The decanted must is racked and inoculated with yeasts then ferments at 15°C for 20 days. The wine thus obtained remains on the lees until February with continuous mixing. 10% of the must is fermented in barriques. The wine is then matured in stainless steel tanks and Allier oak 225 litre barriques.
