Deep dark violet color with red hues. The nose offers bold black fruits and delicate floral aromas, with scents of violets, spices, black pepper and wet earth notes. The palate shows a perfect balance of fresh, vibrant acidity and a smooth and elegant texture. Is concentrated and persistent. During aeration the wine’s aromas will open up, expressing its complexity and intensity. We recommend decanting and serve at 64°F (18°C).

The 2015 EQ Syrah, a cool-climate Syrah from vines on red granite soils, fermented in open vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in 225-liter French oak barrels for 18 months. 2015 was a ripe and powerful year, and the wines show it. The fruit is black rather than red, and it has notes of smoke and toast that blow off with time in the glass, taking off with lots of spices and a leathery touch. 29,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2016, as they also want to keep the wine in bottle for at least a year before it's released.

James Suckling (JS) : 94 Points (2013)
Aromas of spice, blackberry and walnut aromas and flavors. Full body, very fine tannins with loads of subtle and complex flavors from pure blueberry to spices and meat. Drink now. Made from biodynamic grapes.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 91 Points (2012)
May 2015 - A polished style, with lively minerality to the red plum, dark currant and dried blackberry flavors, which are long and lush-tasting. Shows a lithe creaminess midpalate, presenting a chocolate mousse?infused finish. Drink now through 2019

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 91 Points (2012)
Jammy, earthy, chocolaty blackberry aromas come with a minerally note of vitamins and grit. This is bold and lively on the palate, with black plum, brandied cherry, herb and charred-oak flavors. Burnt toast and blackened berry flavors finish woody, chocolaty and lemony.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 91 Points (2011)
June '15 by Josh Raynolds - Brilliant ruby. Intense aromas of cassis, blueberry, smoky minerals, licorice and violet, with a hint of vanilla slowly emerging. Lush, sweet and densely packed, with succulent herb and floral pastille notes accenting ripe black and blue fruit flavors. Finishes smooth and broad, with lingering spiciness and fine-grained, harmonious tannins.-- Josh Raynolds

Aromas of bright cherry and red berry with hints of cool climate cranberry framed in whips of smoky peat hearth fire. Flavours are bright, with firm acid structure supporting the same fruit tones perceptible in the aroma—very persistent! Finish lingers with long, late acid backbone carrying the red berry late into the aftertaste.
