Ixsir Altitudes Red is a remarkable wine from Lebanon, renowned for its complexity and balance, combining international and local grape varieties grown at various altitudes.

Region and Vineyards

The wine comes from the mountains of Lebanon, covering a wide range of altitudes from 400 to 1800 meters. The vineyards are spread from Batroun to Jezzine, on clay-calcareous and calcareous stony soils, benefiting from Lebanon's unique microclimates. Specific plots include KFIFANE (450 m), SMAR JBEIL (500 m), JEZZINE (950 m), BECHOUAT (1100 m), BASBINA (400 m), HALWA (1400 m), and AINATA (1800 m). This diversity of altitudes and soils allows for the production of grapes with rich flavor complexity and excellent quality.

Winemaking Process

Winemaking takes place in a winery located on the hills of Batroun, combining a traditional 17th-century Lebanese house with contemporary infrastructure focused on sustainability. Harvesting is done manually, in 18 kg crates with temperature control below 18°C. The wine is then partially aged in French oak barrels for 6 months, with 15% new barrels, 50% one wine, and 35% two wines.

Fun Fact

The name "IXSIR" is derived from "Iksir," the original Arabic word for "Elixir," defining the purest form of all substances, a secret potion that grants eternal youth and love.
