Decanter (DCT) : 95 Points (2020)
Seductive bouquet of wild flowers and minerals, a fine leesy complexity and fresh aromas and flavours of citrus, peach tea and sweet hay. Crisp, refreshing, fruity and dry with fine texture. Just enough concentration of flavour to contrast the fresh herb notes and salivating acidity. Well made and long. (CD) (11/2020)

Bob Campbell MW (BC) : 95 Points (2020)
A classic yin and yang sauvignon blanc with passionfruit and guava flavours contrasting with lime juice, green capsicum and lemongrass, while a sweet-and-sour contrast builds a delicious tension. Nice purity and length (2/2021)

James Suckling (JS) : 94 Points (2020)
A very fresh, lime and grapefruit nose with a gently herbal thread, as well as green passion-fruit notes. The palate has a captivating fusion of fresh acidity and rich, fleshy fruit flavors. Zesty and intense. Very drinkable.

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 91 Points (2020)
Aromas of bright peach, passionfruit, orchard blossom and a vegetal note are seamless on the nose. They flow gently to the palate where there’s a lovely texture, freshness and overall harmony. (CP) (11/2021)

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 91 Points (2020)
This is a youthful yet mellifluous expression of Sauvignon Blanc with a line of tension that gives it length and purpose. Citrus, elderflower and grassy notes infuse the svelte midpalate. The finish is crisp, clean and full of adolescent vigor. (RG) (11/2020)

Robert Parker (RP) : 91 Points (2019)
Subtle scents of snap peas mark the nose of the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc. There's passion fruit as well, plus pink grapefruit and a slight crushed tomato-leaf component. It's similarly complex on the palate, where it's medium-bodied, with a strong core of grapefruity acids that give it backbone and length.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 92 Points (2018)
A vibrant mix of pineapple, mango and citrus flavors on a smooth, medium body, with plenty of vibrant acidity. Appealing details of orange zest and green apple skin add complexity. Drink now. 5,000 cases imported.

Jancis Robinson (JR) : 16.5 Points (2017)
Interesting aroma that seems almost a little salty but still has the fresh green-fruits and herbal aromas of Marlborough Sauvignon. On the palate there are riper flavours of melon, even gooseberry (which I rarely seem to find on Marlborough Sauvignon these days) and lovely freshness. There's a very slight grip in the texture but no unwanted phenolics. Tastes dry but leaves my mouth feeling as if there might be a touch of residual sugar? (JH)

Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 93 Points (2016)
Kevin Judd, the founding winemaker at Cloudy Bay, makes this wine under his own label from vineyards in the Southern Valleys and Wairau Plain, as well as one on a terrace in the upper Awatere Valley. It’s a citrusy sauvignon in 2016, girded by flinty notes that seem to tighten around all the rich lime flavors. Cool, laser-like acidity keeps it tense and focused; for any roast fish.

An enticing combination of pink grapefruit, burnt orange and white nectarine interwoven with aromas of smoked almonds, hazelnut, and freshly cut hay. The savoury notes carries through onto the rich, textural palate, evidence of this wine’s low-intervention winemaking. An intricate bone-dry style that is highly concentrated with a distinct flintiness, tight structure and crisp, citrus finish.
