Graham's 20 Years Old Tawny is the result of the Master Blender's quest for the perfect balance between young and aged Port wines. This is a Port wine perfected over twenty years to delight those in pursuit of excellence.

The 20 Year Old is similar in style to the I0 Year Old, but as you would expect with double the age, the colour is more amber, the nut and fig character is accentuated, and the flavour much more concentrated. If you stay in a Douro Quinta you are more than likely to find a bottle or two of this in the fridge.

Colour: Amber; golden tawny.

Aromas: Excellent bouquet; with a characteristically nutty character and delicious mature fruit; hints of orange peel; exquisitely mellowed by careful ageing.

On the palate: Rich, softly sweet and smooth; perfectly balanced with a long and elegant finish.

Occasions & Pairing: Pairs extremely well with nuts, dried fruits and fruitcake, as well as vanilla ice cream and crème brûlée.

Serve slightly chilled.

Tawny Port is always exciting, but if you can afford to splash out, go for a 20 Year Old. All the major houses make wonderful aged tawnies and this is always one of the best. Ethereal and mellow on the palate, it boasts flavours of toffee and caramel, burnt orange and raisins, dried plums, hazelnuts and a savoury hint of mushroom on the finish. Wonderful stuff!

A gorgeous tawny with dried figs, caramel, dried raisins and coffee beans. Full-bodied, sweet and delicious. This shows such length and beauty. I love the crème caramel and cooked apple tart on the finish. Some pecan pie. Crazy. Drink now.

Oct 15, 2013 - Top 100 2013 #87 - A complex and full-bore tawny, with deep, intense flavors of orange cream, glazed apricot, baked peach and roasted pineapple that are balanced by concentrated chocolate and toffee notes. The bright finish is filled with spice and supported by fresh acidity.

This is a hugely dry, burnt style, very concentrated. The licorice and bitter coffee flavors are dense, layered and well balanced with the acidity. A serious wine that demands attention.

Jancis Robinson (JR) : 16.5 Points (NV)
Tasted Dec 2013 - Very pale rosy tawny colour. Light nose with just a hint of rancio. Rich and round and seamless on the palate with sufficient acidity to keep it fresh, though I would choose to serve this lightly chilled to enhance that. Pretty rather than sensational. A much lighter, smoother, more evolved style than the Taylor's 20 year old.
