Chianti Classico is the cornerstone of the estate’s production. The vineyards are located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the southeastern part of the Chianti Classico appellation, to the southeast of Siena.

Almost exclusively with a southwestern exposure, they sprawl across ventilated slopes at an altitude ranging from 320-420 meters above sea level. Geologically, the terrains are mixed: in the higher parts the soil is predominantly rock quartz and calcareous alberese mixed with alluvial pebbles; strataform sandstone and loam characterize the vineyards on the edge of the Colli Senesi in the direction of the Crete Senesi. First vintage 1967.

James Suckling (JS) : 94 Points (2019)
A beautiful, creamy red with cherry and chocolate character. Hints of dried earth. It’s medium-to full-bodied with creamy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. shows firmness and tension. Very drinkable now, but will improve beautifully with age. Drink now.

Decanter (DCT) : 92 Points (2019)
At the southeastern limit of Chianti Classico, Fèlsina’s expansive vineyards look towards Montalcino. The annata is assembled from various parcels rising from 320 to 420 metres on rocky calcareous soil with layers of sandstone. As usual, it is more earthy than fruity, bringing in evocative accents of violet, liquorice and pepper. The palate is superbly textured with fine, grainy tannins providing a sensuous grip. Dark fruited and tangy with admirable depth, it will drink well now and over the next decade. Finishes with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Robert Parker (RP) : 91 Points (2019)
One of the best vantage points for drinking Chianti Classico is at the entry level. A wine like the Fèlsina 2019 Chianti Classico Berardenga offers so much freshness and cheerful, easy-drinking appeal. It's a terrific partner to pizza, pasta or basically anything on the trattoria menu tonight. This wine shows bright cherry flavors and redcurrant with pressed flowers and some tangy blood orange. It is steady and generous, with lots of bright primary intensity.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 90 Points (2019)
This is lively, its cherry, strawberry and orange peel flavors picking up earth and woodsy accents. Firm tannins sweep in on the finish, yet this stays fresh and long. A touch more austere than many '19s.

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 92 Points (2018)
New leather, camphor and blue flower are some of the aromas you'll find on this bright, fragrant red. On the medium-bodied palate, vibrant acidity and taut tannins surround cassis, Marasca cherry and tobacco notes. Drink 2022–2028.

Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 92 Points (2016)
The temperate 2016 growing season yielded a beautifully perfumed and poised Chianti Classico at Fèlsina. The aromas and flavors are pure Tuscany, with scents of lavender and dried thyme that lead into flavors of ripe black cherry and even savory tomato skin. Notes of pink peppercorns and leafy tobacco emerge with air, adding layers to the fleshy fruit.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 90+ Points (2014)
Oct 2016 - The 2014 Chianti Classico Berardenga is fabulous. Fresh, aromatic and salivating with acidity, the 2014 is a super-old school Chianti Classico from start to finish. The intense acidity might come as a shock to readers used to more contemporary, supple wines, but this is a terrific example of what Chianti Classico from Castelnuovo Berardenga is all about. Cherry pit, leather, smoke, grilled herbs, menthol and game add striking nuance throughout. The savory, earthy style that is typical of the estate's best wines comes through loud and clear. In 2014, Fèlsina did not bottle their top Riservas, all the best fruit went into the straight Chianti Classico. The 2014 is a wine to buy by the case and enjoy over the next 20 years. I won't be surprised if the 2014 develops into an even better wine than this note suggests. - Antonio Galloni

This is 'Super Tuscan' which means they tend to use more international grape varieties in their wines. This wine in particular is made Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This is a very rich, complex wine, with dark berry fruit flavours and hints of tobacco, chocolate and spice.
