Dark plum, concentrated centre and opaque to the edges. Enticing with almonds, coffee and sweet caramel, and alluring sniffs of cassis and vanilla pods. Great freshness with hits of blackberry sweetness.

Elegant entry, very plush and immediately filling. Sweeter dark berry fruit very evident, which contributes well to balancing the minerality which adds a lot of weight.

Robert Parker (RP) : 90 Points (2010)
The 2010 Morgenster sees 18 months in French oak of which 60% is new. It has a lifted menthol-tinged bouquet that is reminiscent of Right Bank Bordeaux. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent strawberry and raspberry fruit, fine tannins and a fine line of acidity. There is an attractive caressing texture here and an understated finish that completes this commendable, classic-styled Merlot.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 90 Points (2006)
Ripe and juicy, but well-focused, with enticing plum sauce, black currant preserves and crushed blackberry fruit laced with mouthwatering singed apple wood and tobacco notes that drive nicely through the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Drink now through 2014. 4,000 cases made.
