Aromas of bright cherry and red berry with hints of cool climate cranberry framed in whips of smoky peat hearth fire. Flavours are bright, with firm acid structure supporting the same fruit tones perceptible in the aroma—very persistent! Finish lingers with long, late acid backbone carrying the red berry late into the aftertaste.

13 year old vines planted on loam, sandy soil and a coastal climate, 4km away from the ocean with average temperatures of 15°C. In summer temperatures are not higher than 28°C. Morning fogs and frosts occur in spring and early summer. No rain during growing season. Grapes are handpicked during first week of April.

Winemaking

Grapes are manually sorted by hand, leaving behind unwanted green materials. No crushing, just de-stemming. The must is cold macerated before fermentation for 3 days. Spontaneous fermentation at 24 - 25°C which lasted 10 days. Three punch downs per day by hand. Before fermentation is completed the wine is transferred by gravity into the French barrels where the lees are stirred for one months. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine is kept for 12 months in old French oak.

Robert Parker (RP) : 91 Points (2013)
I had to wait for the reduction to blow away from the reds, especially from the 2013 Pinot Noir Litoral Vineyard, sourced from a vineyard that is four kilometers away from the sea. The wine matured in French oak barrels, 20% of them new, for one year -- yet you don't notice any oak on the nose. It's spicier and earthier, mixing red and black cherry aromas with some floral hints, developing more complex nuances with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, with sophisticated tannins and very good acidity, tasty, supple, easy to drink and with a mineral, salty finish that calls for food and for the next sip. Very good Pinot Noir. 10,000 bottles produced.

Notes of ocean breeze with elegant fragrances of slightly candied citrus, rhubarb and pink grapefruits and hints of green peppers, in which the minerality is a highlight. On the palate it is saline and juicy at the same time with a clear and elegant acidity which continues together with the long finish of this wine. This is a great example of a seductive and fine wine that can be enjoyed for drinking now, or in a few more years.

Bodegas Albamar Sesenta e Nove Arrobas Albariño 2020
Bodegas Albamar Sesenta e Nove Arrobas Albariño 2020

This wine comes from Rías Baixas, a renowned wine region in Galicia, Spain, known for its Albariño wines. The region's granite disintegrating sands and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean impart a distinctive terroir to the wine.

The Sesenta e Nove Arrobas is made from a selection of the best grapes from old vines, which produce fewer clusters but with excellent aromatic qualities. The grapes are vinified exclusively in steel tanks to enhance their rich aromatic qualities, and the wine is aged for 18 months in these tanks. The use of indigenous yeasts and a natural approach to winemaking further accentuates the grape's unique characteristics.

Tasting Notes:

  • Color: The wine has a bright and inviting appearance.
  • Aroma: Expect a vibrant bouquet, brimming with mineral notes along with traces of flowers and a variety of citrus fruits.
  • Palate: The taste is taut, fresh, and saline, with a crisp and invigorating acidity. It flows seamlessly to a finish marked by great freshness, making it both savory and vibrant.

Wine Pairing Ideas: This wine pairs beautifully with seafood, making it an excellent choice for dishes like grilled fish, shellfish, or a seafood paella. Its crispness and acidity also make it a great match for light salads and vegetarian dishes.
