Deep ruby red colour with purple edges. Intense fruity aromas of red berried, raspberries and floral notes with a touch of spice and chocolate. Well structured, fresh and fruity in the mouth with soft and rounded tannins. Finishes long and velvety.
The winery is situated in the Calchaquí Valley of Salta in the far north of Argentina at nearly 1,828 metres above sea level. It is a part of the Hess Family Estates and is run with the same dedication to quality, sustainability and social responsibility as the other Hess Estates around the world. Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 91 Points (2018)
Herbal black fruit aromas are touched up by notes of earthy spice and cured meat. A prodding palate is both solid and tannic, while this Salta Malbec tastes of blackberry, dark plum, herbs and spices. A lush finish is equally stout, and overall you won’t find much fault in this. Hess Family Wine Estates.

Tim Atkin (TA) : 91 Points (2018)
Amalaya sources this wine from its Finca Las Mercedes in the Calchaqui Valleys, combining Malbec with 7.5% Tannat and 2.5% Petit Verdot. Richly coloured, juicy and aromatic, with just a touch of oak and supple, caressing tannins.

Robert Parker (RP) : 89 Points (2018)
The grapey and juicy 2018 Malbec was a good representation of the varietal in the northern region of Salta, with intense aromas and pungent flavors. It's approachable and has very fine tannins, a dry finish and a nice texture. In reality, it also contains 10% Tannat and 5% Petit Verdot, but it can still be called Malbec. 695,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2018.

James Suckling (JS) : 90 Points (2017)
Violet extract, granite, oyster shell, nutmeg and pepper. Full body, juicy, grainy tannins and a fruity finish.

Decanter (DCT) : 90 Points (2017)
A blend of 85% Malbec, 10% Tannat, 5% Petit Verdot. A refreshing expression, layers of pure cherry flavours and notes of spices and violets. The texture is tender and creamy, with a cleansing acidity.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 90 Points (2015)
A fleshy red, with concentrated blackberry and dried blueberry flavors supported by fresh acidity. Mineral and dark chocolate notes linger with hints of white pepper on the finish. Drink now through 2020.
