Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 98 Points (2018)
From the famous site that kicked off a revolution in Napa Cabernet, this wine is aromatic in cedar, earth and sage. Robust and generously concentrated in berry, cherry and cassis, it is complex, structured and velvety smooth, the tannins supple and supportive, unfurling slowly in the glass. *Editors' Choice* (VB) (5/2022)

James Suckling (JS) : 96 Points (2018)
Very floral with violets and roses, as well as sweet berries, cherries and some redcurrants. It’s round and refined with lovely berry character and fine tannins. So attractive now, but better in two or three years. (7/2021)

Wine Spectator (WS) : 94 Points (2018)
Very stylish, with a fine-grained alder and cedar backdrop that lets creamed plum, cassis and cherry reduction notes glide through unencumbered. Offers subtle savory, mineral and anise details that peek in throughout, with latent depth through the finish. Accessible, but there's absolutely no rush here. Drink now through 2038. (JM) (3/2022)

Robert Parker (RP) : 93 Points (2018)
Unlike many prior vintages, which often include a small proportion of Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Fay Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Despite being aged exclusively in new French oak, the nose shows only hints of pencil shavings and vanilla, with the primary aromas being violets, redcurrants and cherries. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, silky, fine and elegant, with a long, gently oaky finish. (JC) (9/2022)

Decanter (DCT) : 91 Points (2018)
Dark chocolate and liquorice notes with meaty nuances and sweet black fruits. Rich and rounded in the mouth, warm savoury finish. (1/2022)

Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 95 Points (2017)
As Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars sets out to celebrate its 50th anniversary, this vintage of Fay cabernet may be the best wine I’ve tasted from that historic vineyard—the site and the wine that initially convinced Warren Winiarski to purchase the rocky hillside next to Nathan Fay’s vineyard. The soils at Fay are alluvial, remnants of an ancient riverbed, unlike the rock that eroded off the Stags Leap Escarpment and collected at the base of the hill at S.L.V., Winiarski’s original vineyard. In 2017, Fay is the elegant beauty. There’s nothing pushy or potent about its complexity, just a waterfall of minerals and fruits that seems to continue long after each taste. It would be hard not to fall in love with this wine’s svelte refinement. Open a bottle and let it lift your mood.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 95 Points (2016)
Gorgeous and expressive, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Fay is classy, polished and super-refined. All of the pedigree of the vintage comes through loud and clear. Resonant, but not at all heavy, the 2016 is just sublime. Mocha, leather, spice and wild cherry are seamless in the glass, with silky, creamy tannins that bring out the wine's sensual side even further. (AG) (12/2018)
