San Pablo is a newer appellation within Uco Valley that is rapidly gaining recognition for its exceptional cool-climate wines, with the Zuccardi family being one of the pioneering producers in this area.
Region and Vineyards: This exceptional wine comes from the San Pablo sub-region within the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina. The vineyards are situated at an elevation of around 4,590 feet, allowing for cooler climate conditions and a longer ripening period, which is ideal for producing Chardonnay with great acidity and depth. The terroir of San Pablo brings out the wine’s distinctive minerality.
Winemaking Process: The wine was crafted using a blend of aging methods, with 30% of the wine aged in 500-liter barrels and the rest in concrete tanks. This combination enhances the wine's complexity while retaining its freshness and purity. The 2021 vintage was a cooler year, allowing the winemakers to use more oak to provide the necessary oxygenation for the wine. This approach resulted in a seamless and elegant palate.
