Vibrant deep crimson with garnet hues. Lifted, fragrant aromas of fresh raspberries, dark plums and cranberries are complemented beautifully by savoury nuances of anise, cumin seeds, cracked black pepper, nutmeg, mace and dried herbs.

The palate is pure, dense and concentrated with ripe raspberry and plum flavours balanced by rustic hints of turned earth, musk stick and black pepper; complex layers of texture and fine-grained velvety tannins.

Robert Parker (RP) : 92 Points (2018)
The 2018 Johann's Garden is a blend of 77% Grenache, 19% Mataro and 4% Shiraz, all matured in older French hogsheads. Scents of cola and spice meet plums and black cherries, but this is a bit reserved on the nose, with the explosiveness left to the full-bodied, lush palate. Generous and mouth-filling and marked by supple tannins and ripe fruit, it's plump and round, with a softly dusty finish. Gulpable now, it should add some spice nuances over the next several years as the fruit gently fades.

James Suckling (JS) : 92 Points (2016)
Dried redcurrants, caramelized oranges and a touch of tinned blueberries. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a fruit-forward finish.

James Halliday (JH) : 95 Points (2014)
70% grenache, 24% mataro, 6% shiraz vinified separately, matured in used French oak for 10 months, blended shortly prior to bottling. Bright and clear, this is arguably the most delicious slurpable wine in the Henschke stable; it?s got a pinot noir-like note to its texture and mouthfeel.

The traditional blend Cavendish is a rich golden colour with exceptionally fine bubbles. The nose is expressive with hints of red fruits. The Pinot dominance brings depth and complexity to the palate with a long-lasting finish, whilst the Chardonnay adds finesse and freshness.

Jim Barry Assyrtiko 2021
Jim Barry Assyrtiko 2021
This is Australia’s first Assyrtiko, originally planted in August 2012 at the Lodge Hill Vineyard on the eastern ranges of the Clare Valley. The wine has been praised for its similarity to its Greek counterpart and has great natural acidity with flavors of pear, apricot and apple. A medium-bodied wine with a fine texture that we do not see in our Riesling.
