Straw yellow, this wine has an open, aromatic nose.

Fresh peach and greengage perfumes are complemented by a hint of tropical fruit.

The wine has excellent balance in the mouth between a rounded, fuller style of Sauvignon and the freshness that is characteristic of this region, finishing with a zesty citrus tang.

This is in large part due to geographical situation, with estate vineyards occupying some of the finest sites of the Isonzo river valley, on well-draining alluvial soils over calcareous rock, benefiting from the sunny but cool conditions where the continental easterly 'bora' wind tempers the warmth coming up from the Adriatic. The Vie di Romans 2018 Friuli Isonzo Sauvignon Blanc Piere reveals a zesty and pure expression of the grape that does not hold back aromatically in this vintage. The bouquet is redolent of citrus, exotic fruit, green papaya and a pronounced touch of green olive. Indeed, those greenish aromas gain strength as the wine warms in the glass. Subtle mineral notes settle on the close and reinforce this wine's lean, crisp personality. This wine ages on the lees in stainless steel vats for nine months.
