In 1968, Silverado Vineyard became the fourth planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in the Stags Leap District. Over the next two decades, meticulous field selection created an entirely new clone of Cabernet Sauvignon. The University of California, Davis designated this unique vine with the Disney-Silverado Heritage clone.

It is one of only three Cabernet Sauvignons to attain Heritage status – and the only one from Stags Leap District. Each year, we honor this extraordinary clone with SOLO.

Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 90 Points (2014)

Solo grows at Silverado’s Stags Leap Vineyard, a selection of the estate’s Disney Heritage clone. It’s ripe, bold and juicy, with tart boysenberry flavors and a hint of bitter extract in the tannins. Give it a few years in the cellar to mellow, then serve with a steak.

James Suckling (JS) : 93 Points (2013)

A firm and silky red with blackberry, lavender and lilac aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, firm and refined. A little subdued now but should open with a few years of bottle age.

Decanter (DCT) : 93 Points (2013)

The sweet ripe blackcurrant nose is tinged by a slight chlorine note but the palate delivers with cassis and pencil shavings layered upon tart plums. It is tannic but not tough as the fruit bursts through.

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 90 Points (2013)

This is 100% varietal, from a heritage clone named for the owner and the winery, the Disney Silverado Heritage Clone. It contributes a dusty earthiness to the wine, a density and purity of fruit deep in dense blueberry and blackberry unctuousness. Cedar and graphite season it well, as firm, thick tannins fill up the finish.
