More information on wine critics and ratings

Vineyards:

Grapes for Imaginador were sourced from four vineyards in the Guarilihue sub-region of Itata. The vineyards are dry-farmed and planted on soils composed of rocky quartzic granite. The bush vines are well over 50 years old.

Vinification:

The grapes were hand harvested and 30% were kept as whole bunch. Fermentation occurred using natural yeasts in concrete vats and open top stainless-steel tanks with very short pump overs during the 10 days. After fermentation, the wine underwent 10-20 days of maceration before being aged in a mix of untoasted oak tanks, foudre and concrete vats for 12 months, then 8 months in bottle.

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of cranberry and wild herbs with vibrant acidity and fine tannins. The minerality from the granitic soils carries through from the nose to the long, refreshing finish.

Robert Parker (RP) : 93+ Points (2017)
The 2018 Imaginador is made with Cinsault from five old vineyards in the village of Guarilihue in Itata from a dry year. It fermented with 30% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and had a long maceration after the fermentation finished. The élevage was in a mixture of 2,550-liter oak foudres and 3,000-liter concrete vats and lasted 10 to 11 months. The wine is only 12.5% alcohol and has a mineral, fresh and vertical personality with good grip and structure. It has a serious and somewhat austere personality along with depth and complexity and is nicely textured in a reductive/flinty Comando G style. It's all about texture and mouthfeel, with very good freshness, really superb. 13,965 bottles were filled in March 2019.
