Tasting Note: Powerful aromas of crème de cassis, boysenberry and ripe cherries with a soft minerality and hints of dark chocolate can be found on the nose. On the palate, dark plums are prominent with hints of vanilla and chocolate, enhanced by a smooth velvety texture.
Vineyard: In 2009, the decision was made to create a new blend that featured Petite Sirah - a varietal most known for its tannins and inky colour and least known for its ability to be delicate and complex. With only about 10,000 acres of Petite Sirah planted in California, the Orin Swift team tasted through the state to discover the best regions for the grape. Coming off the success of the 2014 vintage, even more vineyards were found whose wines met the strict standards to be included in Machete.
