Roserock is an extraordinary vineyard at the southern tip of the Eola-Amity Hills, in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Ancient volcanic soils, an ideal elevation range and the unique cooling effect of the Van Duzer corridor produce classic cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Roserock is LIVE-certified sustainable.

Tasting notes: In the glass, Chardonnay from Roserock has an intriguing, slightly golden tone. On the nose, there is a hint of pear, quince, ripe citron, honeysuckle and pine needle. On the palate, the wine is round and fresh, with only faint oak presence, and excellent acidity without tartness. There is structure, balance, great texture and an elegant mid-palate, leading to a long finish. It is a wine that will drink well for at least 3-5 years.

Decanter (DCT) : 93 Points (2017)
From the cooler Eola-Amily Hills, also on volcanic soils, this opens with alluring aromas of petrichor and more time in the glass reveals smoky Mirabelle plums and radiant freshness. This vivid brightness is also apparent on the concentrated and beautifully textured palate, with convincing structure and poise. Fermented in both steel and wood, this is sophisticated, sprightly and utterly mouthwatering.

James Suckling (JS) : 93 Points (2017)
This has a very convincing core of stony, minerally elements with bright, yellow citrus fruit that leads to a palate that has a stony, dense and fresh feel. Good weight and texture, wrapping tight and dry.

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 92 Points (2017)
The wines from Drouhin's Roserock vineyard, in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, offer a nice counterpoint to the more familiar Dundee Hills bottlings. This young wine is smooth and supple, with medium ripeness. Lemon, peach and pear fruit flavors combine gracefully, with a toasty wrap pulling the wine into focus.

Robert Parker (RP) : 91 Points (2017)
Aged 10 months in about 15% new oak, the 2017 Chardonnay gives scents of apple pie, Meyer lemon and quince with notes of crushed stone, toast and Greek yogurt. Light to medium-bodied and silky, it has restrained, minerally fruits with juicy acidity and a long finish. This could use another year in bottle to put on a touch of weight.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 90 Points (2017)
Delicately spirited, with lively apple, pear and spice flavors that build toward a polished finish. Drink now.

Jancis Robinson (JR) : 92 Points (2016)
The 2016 Chardonnay from the Drouhin family’s new Roserock estate is a lovely young wine in the making, with a fine structural chassis destined to carry it effortlessly well into the future. It is a pretty ripe wine at 13.9% alcohol, but fresh and pure, offering up a classy bouquet of pear, white peach, fresh almond, citrus peel, lovely soil tones and a very discreet framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and quite youthful in profile, with outstanding soil signature, a good core of fruit, bright acids and excellent focus and grip on the pure and primary finish. This is a wine that really deserves some bottle age to start to show some of its secondary layers of complexity. It will age long and gracefully. (1/2019)

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 94 Points (2015)
Pale yellow-gold. Intense, mineral-inflected orchard and pit fruit, lavender and buttered toast aromas are complicated by oyster shell, fennel and vanilla nuances. Concentrated yet nervy and light on its feet, offering palate-staining, oak-kissed pear nectar, Meyer lemon and candied ginger flavors underscored by a vein of smoky minerality. Shows superb energy and power on the floral-tinged finish, which hangs on with serious, mineral-driven tenacity. (JR) (2/2018)

Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 91 Points (2015)
Scents of caramel and pear give this wine an attractive first impression. Texturally, the wine is thoroughly seductive, its firm cushion of fruit limned by a snappy saline tang that provides contour and mouthwatering complexity. For a seafood dinner of Cantonese salt-and-pepper prawns. (8/2017)
