Robert Parker (RP) : 91 Points (2014)
The 2014 Amarone della Valpolicella shows more cola and balsamic intensity than does the 2013, with more barbecue spice as well. In a blind tasting, I might say that this is the older wine, rather than the 2013. This weaker vintage sprinkles out plenty of garden herb and green olive. Of course, you still get the darkly concentrated Amarone dried fruit sensations of prune and raisin at its core. I think it would do well with some veal schnitzel. I like the fullness of the 2013 better when I tasted these wines together. Production here was smaller in this difficult vintage, with 90,000 bottles made.

James Suckling (JS) : 91 Points (2014)
This is already quite developed, but has a ton of balsamic vinegar and soy sauce character, plus a stack of dry tannins that build at the finish. Drink now with blue cheese.

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 90 Points (2014)
This opens with aromas of tilled soil, cooking spice and ripe dark fruit. The dense palate delivers raisin, clove and tobacco alongside polished tannins.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 91 Points (2012)
Firm tannins are tightly knit to the core of crushed blackberry, wild herb, tarry mineral and abundant spice notes in this sleek, full-bodied red. Fresh and focused, this should open nicely with air or short-term cellaring. Best from 2018 through 2027.
