Wine Spectator (WS) : 91 Points (2014)
Like a garden after rain, this smells like mint, floral, dusty cherry and wet earth. Licorice and sandalwood notes chime in as this builds to a lingering aftertaste. Elegantly rustic, in a traditional style. Best from 2022 through 2035.

Decanter (DCT) : 90 Points (2014)
This well-known estate has been labelling its wines from here with the Brunate name since 1958. The sweet, intense raspberry nose has purity of fruit and finesse. It's quite concentrated, with a sleek, seamless texture and considerable weight of fruit. Moderate tannins give some structure, though this is no heavyweight. Quite long.Drinking Window 2019 - 2032

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 90 Points (2014)
Star anise, clove and menthol aromas come to the forefront on this vibrant red. It's taut and linear, offering sour cherry, pomegranate and licorice alongside firm acidity and tight, polished tannins

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 91 Points (2013)
The 2013 Barolo Brunate is laced with the essence of dark cherry, herb, licorice, sage, tobacco and menthol. The aromatic intensity, intrigue and textural depth of Brunate comes through nicely. Deep, rich and beautifully layered, the 2013 offers lovely depth and balance in the classic understated Marcarini style. (AG) (2/2017)

Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 91 Points (2013)
This wine’s autumnal notes of dried leaves and fresh mushroom accent its spicy, tobacco-scented side while firm tannins stand in the way of the fruit. Yet the wine feels poised and elegant, wanting only time in the cellar to let the fruit emerge. (12/2017)

James Suckling (JS) : 94 Points (2011)
A rich and flavorful red with plum, dried orange peel and a chocolate finish. Full body, round tannins and a savory finish. Better in 2018.

Robert Parker (RP) : 90 Points (2011)
The hot-vintage 2011 Barolo Brunate is not at the top of its game, but it does deliver plenty of dark fruit and succulent spice. I did like this wine better than the Barolo La Serra in this vintage.
