Hints of copper in the glass. The bouquet is full of sweet pastry aromas, scents of Williams pear skin and notes of yellow fruit.

Extraordinary complexity on the palate expresses ripe fruit together with great structure.

A seductive texture, this wine is very long and persistent on the finish.

This copper-colored Pinot Grigio (better known as Ramato in Friuli) is a pure delight. Aromas of strawberry and cherry mix with peach and crisp apples as if the best fruit salad were in your glass. Subtle hints of mint, fresh flowers and sweet spice dance between the fruit aromas. The palate is forward but is pulled together with a nervy strain of acidity from beginning to end. This is a wine that crosses so many culinary boundaries that it warrants experimenting and having some fun.

The Vie di Romans 2019 Friuli Isonzo Pinot Grigio Dessimis is slightly ramato or copperish in appearance. Longer skin contact with the "gray" skins of the Pinot Grigio grape give this wine its unique color. On the nose, it offers good intensity with apricot, lemon preserves, pear and quince. The overall effect is medium-bodied, and this pretty wine finishes with terrific freshness and minerality.

Dessimis is a rich and exotic pinot grigio, with pungent scents of apple blossom and clove that lead into layers of dried orange and grilled strawberry laced with notes of lemongrass. Those spicy notes continue on the long, creamy finish, warmed by a pleasant bitter almond note.

This rich Pinot Grigio is a pale salmon color, with toasty, smoke and oak spice accents and a minerally underpinning layered with flavors of apricot and lemon meringue pie. Balanced by lively acidity, this is round and lingering on the finish. Drink now through 2021.
