James Suckling (JS) : 92 Points (2021)
Lots of melon and lemon-rind aromas with some sage and mustard seed, following through to a full body with a creamy texture and lemony finish. I like the floral and lemon-zest highlight that gives the wine energy at the end. Drink now.

Decanter (DCT) : 91 Points (2021)
Pietradolce's entry-level Etna Bianco is from younger vines grown at 800m on the northern slopes of Mt Etna. Perfumed and fruity, it shows great balance with a tightness across the waist.

Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 90 Points (2020)
This wine comes across as quiet and firm, requiring some air before revealing flavors of tart lemon and tangy green apple, those fruit tones infused with white smoke and salinity. Decant before serving to let those savory citrus flavors emerge.

Robert Parker (RP) : 90 Points (2020)
A pure expression of Carricante, the entry-level Pietradolce 2020 Etna Bianco is a fun and versatile wine made in a simple manner in steel vats to lock in freshness. The bouquet reveals citrus, white peach and crushed stone. Fruit is drawn from a five-hectare site at a high 750 meters above sea level with well-draining sandy soils mixed in with lots of stones. The wine is clean and snappy, and that pretty acidity adds lots of life and spirit to the bouquet.

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 92 Points (2019)
Made with Carricante grapes grown at 2,625 feet above sea level on the slopes of Mount Etna, this savory, vibrant white opens with delicate, enticing scents of Spanish broom, white stone fruit and a whiff of almond. On the racy, elegant palate, crisp acidity accompanies ripe yellow pear, Meyer lemon, oyster shell and tangy saline.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 91 Points (2019)
The 2019 Etna Bianco, a varietal Carricante, is savory and floral with notes of crushed raw almond giving way to flint, yellow florals and freshly sliced pear. It’s silky in texture yet salty to the core, blending brisk acids with tart Granny Smith apples and hints of wild herbs. The cheeks pucker with residual tension. This finishes poised yet also mouthwatering, with a lingering minerality that keeps you coming back to the glass for more. Well done, and a really great value as well. Drinking window: 2021 - 2025

Wine Spectator (WS) : 90 Points (2017)
A minerally presence of stone and smoke drives flavors of crunchy white peach, chamomile, preserved lemon and beeswax. Well-cut, with a pleasing plumpness to the palate. Drink now through 2023.

Jancis Robinson (JR) : 17 Points (2015)
Straw yellow. Stony, bread-crust nose with cut lime. Waxy lemon and peach palate. Very unusual and hugely compelling. (WS)

The history of Etna is studded with the historic eruptions which have shaped it. That of 1614 is legendary, lasting ten years and the longest ever recorded, halting just on the border of the vineyards of Sciaranuova. A name strongly evocative of our Cru dell’Etna; Carricante with a small addition of Riesling. High altitude black soils confer a fresh, savoury and mineral style.
