Inky purple, with an expressive bouquet of mocha and espresso, toast, graphite, wild blueberry and blackberry liqueur.

This is followed by a full-bodied, full-flavoured, plush wine with layers of complex, spicy black fruits.

The finish is long and balanced, with hints of smoke.

Located in Quintanilla de Onesimo, the stunning estate was purchased by Lalo Anton of Izadi in 2003 and the resulting wines, made by winemaker Angél Ortega, are deep, dark and focused in style. Robert Parker (RP) : 92 Points (2012)
The 2012 Finca Villacreces is fresher and more balanced than the 2011, a little closed and serious at first. It took time to unfurl aromas of red and black cherries, subtle spices, and hints of elegance and complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and good acidity, making it quite enjoyable and accessible. 40,000 bottles.

Stephen Tanzer (ST) : 91 Points (2007)
By Josh Raynolds. Opaque ruby. Expressive bouquet of dark berries, cherry pit and mocha, with a smoky overtone. Supple, suave and seamless, with appealing sweetness to its blackcurrant and floral pastille flavors. Finishes with smooth, building tannins and a lingering note of bitter chocolate.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 90 Points (2006)
This sleek red shows cranberry, cherry, tobacco and orange peel notes over firm tannins. Lively and expressive, with a bright floral finish.
