Robert Parker (RP) : 95 Points (2017)
The 2017 Cabernet Franc Duemani is an enormous wine with a huge payload of concentration, yet there is a relieving freshness to it. Along with the pleasnat notes of spice and dark berry, you get all the thickness and the richness you might expect from a Cabernet Franc of this vintage. The tannins are less silky compared to the estate's Syrah, and it's not a bad idea to let this one cellar for a while before presenting it alongside a platter of rich, creamy cheeses.

James Suckling (JS) : 97 Points (2016)
A layered and rich cabernet franc with tobacco, blackberries, bark and licorice. Full body, very fine tannins that are polished with beautiful fruit and a long, long finish. Shows muscle yet polish. Needs four or five years to soften. Drink in 2023.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni) (VN) : 95 Points (2016)
The 2016 Duemani is a powerful and explosive wine. Dark red cherry, tobacco, cedar, plum, dried flowers, leather and licorice all race out of the glass as this rich, dense Cabernet Franc shows off its personality. Aged 20 months in French oak, the 2016 is a wine of great power and density. I would prefer to drink it on the young side, to take advantage of the wine's superb depth and intensity. This is an outstanding vintage for the Duemani.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 92 Points (2012)
This smells great, bursting with sweet cherry and plum, leather and spice notes. Fluid, juicy, fresh and long, with an element of sweet fruit shining through on the finish. Drink now through 2022.

Jancis Robinson (JR) : 17+ Points (2011)
Tasted Sept 2014 - A little stalky and embryonic but quite sweet on the nose. Pencil shavings with a hint of red bell pepper. Chalky ripe Cabernet Franc fruit with a flattering note of vanilla contrasted by fine tannins and freshness. Very skilfully done. (WS)

Antinori Guado al Tasso Matarocchio 2017
Antinori Guado al Tasso Matarocchio 2017

Il Matarocchio was inspired by the desire to create, at the Guado al Tasso estate, a wine that was the maximum expression both of a single grape variety and a single vineyard plot. Il Matarocchio was born precisely from one of these sites and is a wine of great elegance and depth, one which springs exclusively from its source of origin and from a remarkable vintage.

Le Sol translated from French means “the soil”, appropriate when one considers the significant impact the stony soils of the Gimblett Gravels Vineyard have on this wine called "Le Sol".
