60% grenache, 17% pinot meunier, 14% cabernet sauvignon, 8% pinot noir, 1% shiraz. Deep (for rose) crimson; it is flush with poached plum and cherry fruit flavours, yet retains vibrancy and freshness courtesy of brisk acidity. The ultimate test is the aftertaste, which is crisp and fruity, but dry.

June, 2015. Melton’s grenache-based rosé shows plenty of flesh and some grip too. The raspberry and blueberry fruits are glossy and even, and this has a decent sense of balance and depth. It will be a favourite. Drink now.
