Estate-bottled from the splendid sun drenched vineyard adjacent to the Castello this Brunello encompasses a full body and complexity unique to the genre.

Cool and perfumed 2016 Brunello with black cherries, flowers and crushed stones. Medium to full body with firm, chewy tannins, yet polished and very silky. Mineral and seaweed undertones. Just a hint of bitterness. Drink after 2023.

There’s a lot going on in this bone-dry yet complex red, whose cherry, strawberry and plum fruit meshes with iron, tobacco, wild thyme and Mediterranean pine flavors, while the dusty tannins exert their presence on the lingering finish. Think hearty stews or wild boar ragù. Best from 2025 through 2043. 160 cases imported.

This full-bodied red has aromas of French oak, camphor and a whiff of roasted coffee bean. Tightly knit and youthfully austere, the palate offers sour cherry, orange zest, licorice and a note of dried sage alongside firm, close-grained tannins that grip the close. Drink 2023–2030. Banfi Vintners.

Plush and ample, this single-vineyard Brunello from the southern part of Montalcino sees two years in wood, mostly French barriques. It shows musky forest floor aromas and hints of eucalyptus, the fine-grained tannins giving it a supple texture. Enjoy with a Tuscan white bean stew. (4/2015)
