The 10 hectares of the estate are made up of a wide variety of formations, altitudes and exposures. Its steep and curved vineyards host a cultivation system which remains unaltered.

The result is a sensual wine, as complex and vibrant as its landscape; as fleshy and oily as its slates, full of clay and iron; and as lively, refreshing and magical as its eyes, which are fixed on the mountain range in the north, and its suggestive attention to the air-sea humidity.

The more backward of the 2021s was the 2021 Finca Dofí, which was very primary and smelled almost like the fermentation vessels, and it took time in the glass to open up. The blend is higher in Garnacha and they couldn't use the Picapoll, as it didn't work well that cool year, so it's 90% Garnacha, 9% Cariñena and 1% white grapes. It achieved 14.5% alcohol but kept better freshness than in 2020, a constant in the 2021 wines. Very promising. (LG) (9/2022)

Scented, delineated nose but has depth, too. It effuses wet-stone minerality that gives a thin overlay to the red and blue berries. Some spices, briar and hibiscus, too. Juicy and medium- to full-bodied on the palate, which is a little more vertical and powerful than many of Palacios’ reds, highlighted by real tension and tautness here. Goes on and on.

At 16ha Dofí makes a big vineyard area for Priorat. This is a vivacious wine with red fruit and lovely aromas of velvety red roses. Vividly fresh palate, with wild herbs overlaying the resounding dark fruits. A long firm finish, brisk and determined, with a slight stony echo. A clue to the freshness is the 4% of Picapoll, the local white grape, in the blend for the first time. (SJE) (7/2021)

A plush and harmonious red that starts quietly, with delicate notes of pureed raspberry, anise, thyme, violet and a streak of graphite- and stone-laced mineral slowly expanding on the silky palate. Long and seamlessly knit, with chalky tannins defining the sleek finish. Garnacha and Samsó.

Lurid ruby. An explosively perfumed, mineral-tinged bouquet displays fresh boysenberry, cherry, licorice pastille and sandalwood scents, and a suave spicecake nuance gains power with air. Stains the palate with sappy red and blue fruit, spicecake and candied rose flavors that show impressive clarity and back-end lift. Silky, slow-building tannins add gentle grip to the finish, which hangs on with superb, floral- and mineral-driven tenacity. -- Josh Raynolds
