James Suckling (JS) : 98 Points (2021)
A dense and structured white with white peaches, honeysuckle, lemon tree, and hints lime. Full-bodied with a gorgeous center palate and intense and lively finish. So wild and energetic. Wonderful depth and focus. Drink or hold. Can age beautifully. Think where it will be.

James Halliday (JH) : 98 Points (2021)
It’s been a joy to watch the evolution of Heytesbury over the past decade or so, as it's one of the great Australian chardonnays. Whatever vintage conditions have thrown at it, and with tweaks along the way, the nucleus remains steadfast: quality, excellent fruit and a second-to-none level of detail in the winemaking. This is an evocative wine. Pristine and sublime. Funky sulphides rockin’ it while a gossamer thread of acidity holds everything in line – the citrus flavours, the texture, the wine totally enveloping the oak and, while it’s a powerhouse of flavour, there’s a purity to this. It’s such a contrast. How does it achieve that?

Bob Campbell MW (BC) : 97 Points (2021)
"Light-mid yellow colour with a butterscotch overtone to the complex bouquet, toasted nuts, shortbread and rich sweet-fruit middle palate within a taut and disciplined framework. Tremendous line and length: the finish reverberates for a long time. A quite magnificent chardonnay. It's offering more at this tender age than the usual super-reserved Heytesbury." (Huon Hooke, The Real Review) (2/2023)

Robert Parker (RP) : 96 Points (2021)
The 2021 Heytesbury Chardonnay is as Heytesbury usually is—complex, firmly textured, coastal and briny, with layers of flesh and spice folded in on the palate. The wine ages tremendously, and the release cycle really does it no favors, as the wine seems to come into its own several years after release. It really is a shame about commercial reality! You get salted white peach, brine, saltbush, green apple skins, tea leaves, graphite/pencil box, tobacco leaf and cilantro. It's a sensational wine, and it will be even better in time. It was fermented wild, matured for nine months in French oak barriques (56% new, the balance one to three years old) and settled for six months in tank thereafter. Super wine. Piercing.Rating:96+

Wine Enthusiast (WE) : 95 Points (2021)
This is an opulent yet poised and powerful vintage of Vasse's top Chardy. Smokey, flinty, grilled nut-and-buttered toast aromas dominate at first pour. They're quickly followed by melon and stone fruit, which gain prominence with time in glass. Delicate floral and mineral nuance also shine with aeration. The mouthfeel is round and rich but sliced by a laser beam of acidity. A long, saline and toast finish lingers. Approachable now with the ability to age for 8-10 years.

Wine Spectator (WS) : 94 Points (2021)
Elegant and succulent, with salted butterscotch, a touch of buttery pear pastry and fresh citrus notes that are aromatic and juicy, plus grilled peach, white tea and lemon basil accents. Shows a seamless body and pure acidity, with an impressive overall impression.

Decanter (DCT) : 93 Points (2021)
Shy elegant nose, showing scents of lemon, peach tea, nutty oak and vanilla pod. Good textural flow, with a salty finish.

Wines & Spirits (W&S) : 95 Points (2020)
Virginia Willcock selects parcels of Gingin-clone chardonnay, blending a wine of earthy tension and heady richness. It’s tight and youthful, buoyed by oak but not encumbered by it. Mellow peach and pear flavors give the impression of sweetness that comes from perfectly ripe fruit, even as the wine feels savory; a tribute to coastal freshness. It offers gentle satisfaction now, and a view to its long life ahead.

This wine expresses the distinct regional profile of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon and the site characters it takes from the Vasse Felix vineyards, with a focus on Wilyabrup. It was the first red wine produced in Margaret River and has been made every year since 1972. Cabernet is a robust variety ideally suited to Margaret River’s climate and deep, well-drained soils.

Vasse Felix, Margaret River's founding wine estate, was established by Dr Thomas Brendan Cullity in 1967. Among his first plantings were Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec vines, from which he produced the estate’s first red wine. The Tom Cullity descends from these original vines and represents the pinnacle of Vasse Felix.

A deep purple-ruby color. Nice complexity of aromas with red fruits, blackberry liqueur, touches of incense, and notes of mint and cedar sap. The palate a continuation of the nose, suave and intense, with a nice mineral tension characteristic of great limestone terroirs. A fresh finish and an extended length which reveals a great aging aptitude.
